The youngest of ten children born to William and Emilie (nee Schalk) Heller, Paul Heller was a life-long resident of Rogers City, Michigan, a port town on the shores of Lake Huron. Later in life Heller began sailing the Great Lakes aboard the limestone carriers shipping out of Calcite south of Rogers City. He was working as a stoker aboard the S/S Carl D. Bradley when it went down in a storm on Lake Michigan. Heller died in the sinking, he left behind a widow and two children ages 12 and 17.Stokerman Rogers City Michigan died on the Carl D. Bradley
