Alba was born in Stevensville on Sept. 29, 1925, to Italian immigrants Frank and Giovanna (Sola) Ruffatto. Soon after her birth, the family moved to a ranch north of Meaderville where she and her sisters, Mary, Phyllis and Frances, and brother John were raised.

She attended Holy Savior Grade School and Girls' Central High School. After graduation from high school, Alba attended the St. James School of Nursing and received her diploma in 1946. She married Richard J. Walden in October 1947. She satisfied her desire to help and comfort people through her nursing career and raising her children.

Alba was preceded in death by her husband Richard in 1988 and her sisters.

She is survived by her brother, John of Maryland; daughter, Colleen Olsen of Colorado; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Doris Walden of Gig Harbor; granddaughter, Jennifer Walden of Seattle, and several nieces and nephews.
