Rev. John Monro Banister, D. D., was reared in Petersburg, Va., and educated at Princeton College, New Jersey, where he graduated in the class of 1840, and was honored as its valedictorian. He read law under Judge Lomax, of Fredericksburg, Va., and was admitted to the bar in 1843; after which, determining to enter the ministry, he graduated at the Episcopal Theological Seminary, at Alexandria, Va.
