Mabel married Floyd H Nolen, 22 Mar 1914, in Harrisburg, Saline Co, IL. They were both school teachers in one room schools at the time. They had to keep their marriage a secret until the end of the term, because female teachers were not allowed to be married.
Later, the couple would move to East St. Louis, Lake Worth, FL, and back to East St. Louis, before finally settling in Terre Haute, IN for 50 years. In 1983, they moved to assisted living in Pontiac, IL to live closer to their daughter.
Mabel was always busy with household duties, but she always had the most beautiful flower garden with lots of roses and perennials. As a senior citizen, she took up watercolor and oil painting and became quite accomplished. Mabel passed away at the age of 99.
