Mr. Dan B. Morgan, 83, beloved husband of Mrs. Elease McGowan Morgan, entered into rest on Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at Trinity Hospital. Funeral Services will be held today, May 11, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sharon Watkins and Rev. Kathy Laman officiating. Burial will be in Westover Memorial Park. Mr. Morgan was born in Augusta in 1923, graduated with honors from Richmond Academy, and attended Augusta College. Dan married Elease McGowan Morgan of Augusta in 1944. He was a World War II Veteran, serving as a Navy Pharmacist Mate First Class from 1943 to 1945. After being discharged from the Navy, he worked for 40 years as an accountant for the Colonial Baking Company in Augusta, retiring in 1985. Close family and friends will best remember Dan as a talented writer and singer, a brilliant mind and a devoted family man. He was a member of the American Legion Post 63, the John S. Davidson Masonic Lodge and Aldersgate United Methodist Church. In addition to his treasured wife, Dan leaves behind one son, Glenn Morgan and wife Amy of Birmingham, Ala.; one daughter, Jane Roupe and husband Charlie of Evans, Ga.; six grandchildren, Jonathan Morgan, Lauren Morgan, Brittany Morgan, Sara Jane Roupe, Susannah Roupe, and Joy Lenyo; and one great-granddaughter, Emily Lenyo. If so desired, memorials may be made to the Masonic Children's Home, 1417 Nottingham Drive, Macon Georgia 31208 or Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 3185 Wheeler Road Augusta, Georgia 30909.
