Lester C. " Lou" Ward, 79, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2003. He was a native of Wichita, KS and had lived in Jacksonville since 1956. Lou retired from the US Navy as a Chief Petty Officer, having served with honors in WWII. Mr. Ward was a member of American Legion Post 137 and a member of Stafford Cauldwell Masonic Lodge No. 342. Religious affiliation was the Salvation Army. Lou is survived by his wife, Mary Ward; two daughters, Michelle Monroe and Cheryl Ward; three step daughters, Cheryl Blanton, Cindi Blanton and Connie Blanton; six grandchildren, Mark Monroe (Linda), John Monroe (Brooke), Dennis Monroe, Penny Monroe, Lesley Corley (Rob) and Zach Rivenbark; five great grandchildren and sister, Grace McGonigle. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 4, 2003 at JACKSONVILLE MEMORY GARDENS FUNERAL HOME, 111 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, FL 32073. Interment will follow in the Garden of Masonic at Jacksonville Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Monday, February 3, 2003 at the address above.
