Mrs. Mary Hall Passes Away
Funeral Saturday Afternoon
Mrs. Mary Hall passed away at the Holmes Hospital at 3 o'clock Saturday morning, following an attack of typhoid fever. She had been in a critical condition for days.
Surviving Mrs. Hall are her husband John Hall and eight children, the eldest only 15 years of age.
She also leaves four brothers, Tom Lewis, Eldridge; Ed Lewis, Gonzales; H. Z. Lewis, San Saba; Hugh Lewis of San Antonio; and two sisters, Mrs. Ida Moon and Mrs. Bessie Berry of Luling.
The family, who resided onthe Harrel farm, were brought to town some weeks ago when several members of the family were taken ill.
Three of the children, including the two eldest aged 13 and 15 years all ill with typhoid, were placed in the hospital Saturday.
The family have been particularly unfortunate in the serious illness that invaded the home with which members of the family have been battling for weeks.
The loss of the mother is a severe blow to husband and children.
Mrs. Hall was a devoted, unselfish christian wife and mother and was a member of the First Baptist church of this city.
In the bereavement and misfortunes that have been their lot, the family have the warm sympathy of the community, which has been and is being shown in a substantial manner, especially by the pastor and members of the Baptist congregation to which Mrs. Hall belonged.
The funeral was held Saturday afternoon from the chapel of Robertson and Seydler, Dr. O. L. Smith pastor of the First Baptist church conducting the services which were deeply touching.
Several of the dear familiar hymns were rendered by the choir, bearing their message of comfort.
Lovely floral offerings made fair the last resting place of the wife and mother who will be so sadly missed by the grief stricken husband and numerous children.
The acting pallbearers were Eli Freeman, J. M. Gibson, S. A. Smith, Geo. Ewing, D. S. Steubing and Q. M. Griffin.
Mrs. Hall was born December 7, 1894 in Caldwell country, and was 34 years, 8 months and 9 days of age. She was a daughter of Preston Lewis and Mandy White Lewis.
