Charles Terry Huffstetler, 69, of Union City, who died April 7, 2012, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Union City First United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Stan Waldon and Wade Cox officiating. Burial will be 3:00 P. m. in Highland Cemetery in Greenfield. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the church.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Larry Buckles, Rob Joyner, Ron Bloebaum, Ralph Gilliam, Russ Huffstetler, Randy Huffstetler, John Warner and C.W. Huffstetler. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Upper Room Sunday School Class at Union City First United Methodist Church, the Michael Anderson family and the Ralph Gilliam family.

The family requests that memorials be made to Union City First United Methodist Church or Masquerade Theatre.

He was born May 22, 1942, in Weakley County, son of Abby Justine (Terry) Huffstetler of Greenfield and the late Charles Alexander Huffstetler Jr.

He married the former Jane Brooks June 27, 1965. She survives. He was a graduate of Greenfield High School in the Class of 1960 and was class president, football co-captain and Mr. Greenfield High School.

A 1964 graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin, he earned a bachelor of science degree. He was a charter member of Zeta Pi chapter of Alpha Tau Omega, was president of the Wesley Foundation, vice president of All Students' Association and was Campus Leader at the university.

He worked in chemical and biological research following his graduation and was employed by Vitro Corp. and at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida from 1964-1968, when he went to work as a chemical compounder for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. He worked in Union City at that plant for 37 years, retiring in 2005.

He was past president of Union City Jaycees and received the Outstanding Young Man Award in 1975. A member of the UT Alumni Association Board of Governors from 1983-1984 and from 2000-2003, he was also past president of the UT Alumni Association.

He was a member of Union City First United Methodist Church and was a Sunday school teacher for Upper Room Sunday School Class, was chairman of the church council 2010-2011 and served in many other capacities.

He was a board member of Masquerade Theatre and the Obion County Museum and had been chairman of the Regional History Committee of Discovery Park of America.

He is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Susan and the Rev. Wade Cox of Medina; two sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Lisa Huffstetler of Bartlett and Scott and Susan Huffstetler of Owens Crossroads, Ala.; seven grandchildren, Davis Cox and Brooke Cox, both of Medina, C.W. Huffstetler, Jackson Huffstetler and Ben Huffstetler, all of Bartlett, and Alex Huffstetler and Emma Huffstetler, both of Owens Crossroads; and two brothers and his sister-in-law, Randy Huffstetler and Mark and Judy Huffstetler, all of Greenfield.

He was also preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Ellen Huffstetler.
