MARTHA EARLENE SCOTT, 82, former Atlanta, Kansas resident, passed away Saturday morning, April 7, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Manor in Arkansas City, Kansas.

Born on December 17, 1929 in Atlanta, Kansas, she was the daughter of Ernest and Laura (Brannum) Martin. She was raised and received her education in Atlanta and graduated from Atlanta High School in 1947.

She was united in marriage to Arlen Wesley Scott on January 6, 1949 in Winfield, Kansas. The couple made their first home in Clinton, Oklahoma and in 1965 moved to Atlanta. She was employed at St. John's College in Winfield as a dietary cook for 26 years. Mr. Scott preceded her in death in 1985.

Earlene moved to Winfield in 1988. She was a member of the Atlanta United Methodist Church and enjoyed people and her neighbors.

Her family includes: Her son: Arlen Scott, Jr., of Winfield, KS; and A host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her brother, Ernest "Cuddy" Martin, Jr., and her sisters, Mary Eileen Bishop and Eloween Bean Junkens.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at the Atlanta Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 10, 2012. The family will greet friends during that time.

A memorial has been established in Mrs. Scott's name for In Touch Ministries in Atlanta, Georgia. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
