SANFORD — Bobby Gene Beal, 51, died Saturday (10/22/11).

Funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at Rogers Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Buffalo Cemetery.

Born in Chatham County, he was preceded in death by his father, William Charles Beal.

He is survived by his wife, Esther Hilliard Beal; two sons, Shane Gene Beal and Chad Dwight Beal, both of Sanford; his mother, Mary Elizabeth Spivey Beal; sisters, Gail Flippin and husband David, Betty Beal and Ann Oldham, all of Siler City; brothers, Anthony Beal and wife Joyce, and Ricky Beal, all of Siler City; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home prior to the funeral service.

Memorial contributions can be made to the funeral expense fund, 509 Carthage St., Sanford, N.C. 27330.

Death Investigation on Post Office Road
10/22/2011 @ 3:23 PM deputies responded to 1941 Post Office RD. in reference to a man who had been shot in the chest. Upon deputies arrival they found Bobbie Gene Beal (51) of that address suffering from an apparent single gunshot wound to the chest. The victim's wife Ester Beal of the same address reported during a domestic w/ her husband, her husband had taken out a pistol. She reported her husband had made the comment "I'll end this right now" and pointed the weapon at his chest. The firearm discharged once into Beal's chest. It is unclear if the weapon was discharged accidently or deliberately by the victim. Beal was pronounced dead at CCH and will undergo an autopsy at UNC Hospitals. The case is still under investigation.
