Services for Arthur O. Beard, 79, 1602 Ribble, will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Parson Mortuary. Burial will be in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today and before services Thursday at the mortuary.

Mr. Beard died Tuesday in Ball Hospital's emergency room after an extended illness. He was a native of Economy and moved to Muncie in 1954.

He retired from Broderick Corp. in 1971 after 15 years of service as an inspector.

Survivors include his wife, Nellie; four brothers, Russell Beard, Muncie, Charles and Cecil Beard, both of Richmond, and Allen Beard, Titusville, Fla.; and two sisters, Anna Lemaster, Akron, Ohio, and Mrs. Corinna Retherford, Hagerstown.
