He was awarded recognition for his service in The Children of UCCA Head Start program and for his devoted service in the Rockingham Chamber of Commerce. He served on the Board of the Richmond County Health Department and was actively involved in the Rotary Club. Dr. Aiken was also supportive of the Richmond County School System, the Boy Scouts of America, and a member of the Rockingham Civitan Club.
He is survived by his wife Flora Elliott Aiken of the home, sons: Jeff, Kevin and Rick all of Rockingham, a daughter Vicki A. Mills of Weddington, NC and a sister Julia A. Horton of Columbia, SC. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Alex, Katie, Blaire, Brad, Blake, Kevin II, Jackson, Graham, Nick and Noah.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Monday evening, April 9, 2012, at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday April 10, 2012 at Richmond County Memorial Park Mausoleum. Rev. Dr. Jim Nelson and Rev. Debbie Holloway will officiate.
