Astoria, IL - Eileen P. Tippey, age 83, of Astoria, Ill., passed away at 6:44 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2012, at Snyders Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home in Rushville, Ill.

She was born on July 7, 1928, in Lewistown, Ill., a daughter of Jesse W. and Hazel (Grigsby) Collins. On Oct. 26, 1947, Eileen married Willis Tippey in Astoria, Ill. He preceded her in death on Nov. 2, 2002.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Lela Ray and Reta Mae Rudd and one brother, Paul Collins.

Eileen and her husband were owner/operators of Tippey Cement Pottery in Astoria.

She was a member of the Harmony Rebekah Lodge of Vermont and the Astoria United Methodist Church.

Eileen is survived by five daughters, Carol Tippey of Herrin, Ill., Mary Jo (and Ron) Bates of Tuscon, Ariz., Reta (and George) Doubet of Astoria, Ill., Rita (and Kevin) Oliver of Canton, Ill., and Sandy (and Steve) Wittig of Astoria, Ill.; three sons, Allen (and Martha) Tippey of Rushville, Ill., Jim (and Debbie) Tippey of Bridgeton, Mo., and David (and Jerri) Tippey of Belleville, Ill.; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Interment will be in the Summum Cemetery in Summum, Ill.
