Age 30. Mr. Cirard was the son of Laust Christensen. He emigrated to America in his youth but could not stand the climate and had to return to Denmark. When his health improved, he travelled to Argentina but returned back again to Denmark during the summers. In 1912, he found himself in Southampton and decided to go back to North America instead. His family did not know he was on the Titanic. Only after the disaster, his family was told he was on the ship. His belongings were sent back home to his family but he was buried at Fairview Lawn cemetery in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.Mr Hans Kristensen Givard, 30, was the son of Laust Christensen Givard a crofter from Kølsen, Vorde Sogn, Denmark. He emigrated to America in his youth but could not stand the climate and had to return to Denmark. When his health improved he travelled to Argentina but returned to Denmark during the summers. It was on one such trip in the spring of 1912 that he found himself in Southampton. He then decided to go to North America instead and bought ticket 250646 for the Titanic. His family did not know he was on the Titanic he could not bear to say farewell to his mother again, so he left without saying good-bye.
Only after the disaster were the family told that he had been on the Titanic. His body was recovered (#305) and his belongings were sent home.
A relative took care of the watch and tried to make it go by shaking it but without success. He then threw it away as worthless.
Givard was buried at Fairview cemetery, Halifax on 10 May, 1912.
