Born in Bledsoe County June 20, 1940, he was preceded in death by his father, the late Robert Lee Hendon.
He lived in the Brayton Community all of his life and worked as a timber cutter and saw miller.
Of the Baptist faith, he loved his family, enjoyed playing the guitar and working in the garden.
Survivors include his wife Kathleen Hendon, Brayton; mother, Thelma Hendon, Dunlap; children, Danny (Darlene) Hendon, Brayton, James (Lisa) Hendon, Graysville, Beth (Dale) Henderson, Bonnie Kaplan, Mary Jones, all of Dayton; nine grandchildren, Christopher Hunter, Katie Kaplan, Brett Hendon, Joey Hendon, Abby Mikel, D.V. Boston, Brandon Boston, Ashley King, Heather Henderson; two great-grandchildren, Teaunna Boston and Tayven Boston; brothers, Tommy Hendon, Jerry Hendon, both of Dunlap; sisters, Leatrice Stuart, Rossville, Ga., Bobbie Brown, Dunlap.
Services were held Sunday, May 16, 2004, at the funeral home chapel, the Revs. Joe Runyon and Ernie Rickets officiating. Burial was in Hendon Cemetery.
