Mark A. Picotte, age 53, of 712 8th Ave., Helena, died early May 25, 2004, after an extended illness. Mark was born May 31, 1950.
He is survived by his beloved Patti; mother, Patricia W. Picotte; brother, Carter N. Picotte; sister-in-law, Shelley Picotte; and sister, Tristen Shinnick. He was preceded in death by his father, Gene A. Picotte.
Mark grew up in Helena, where he attended school until his junior year, then transferred to the Fensten High School in Tuscon, Ariz., from which he graduated in 1968. Mark joined the Navy, where he served on the U.S.S. Fulton until 1972, earning the National Defense Service Medal. Mark also served many years in the Montana National Guard and the U.S. Army Reserve. Mark graduated from the University of Montana in 1975, with a bachelor's degree in sociology. Mark worked at many occupations reflecting his entrepreneurial spirit, creativity and craftsmanship.
Mark was a very brave and loyal person who dedicated his life to his family, friends, pets and to the great principles upon which this country is founded.
He loved camping in the Montana mountains. History and pontificating on current affairs were major interests.
