Services for Conner Stansel Hanna will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Lundy, Rev. Chris Vowell, and Andrew Hanna officiating. Burial will be in Rocky Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Hanna died Thursday, March 15, 2012, at Winston Medical Center Nursing Home.

Mr. Hanna was born on April 1, 1915, in Noxapater, Mississippi, and lived most of his life in the Rocky Hill community in Winston County with his wife of 73 years, the former Evelyn Moore. For many years, Mr. Hanna farmed and worked as a carpenter on various construction sites in Texas, in South Carolina, and at Ingall's Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, but he later retired from U. S. Motors in Philadelphia. After retirement, he remained active well into his 80s, even single-handedly dismantling a barn at the age of 83.

Mr. Hanna was a long-time member of Harmony Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by three children: James V. Hanna, and wife, Barbara C.; Barbara A. Hanna, all of Louisville, Mississippi; and Kathy Johnson, and husband, Randall, of Noxapater, Mississippi. He is also survived by his brothers, Jennings Wyatt Burrage, and wife, Millie, of Meridian, Mississippi, and Tom Edd Burrage, and wife, Mae Dell, of Moss Point, Mississippi. Mr. Hanna has six grandchildren: Rusty Hanna of Union, Mississippi; Keith Goodin of Madison, Mississippi; Britt Goodin of Mathiston, Mississippi; Chasity Wells, Penny Wells, and Hanna McCain all of Noxapater, Mississippi. Mr. Hanna has ten great-grandchildren: Andrew Hanna, Hunter Goodin, Conner Goodin, Jersie Claire Goodin, Anna Katherine Wells, Abby Wells, Chandler Wells, Johnson Wells, Ryker Wells and Joseph Elijah McCain; two step-great-grandchildren, Jon Kerry and Jarrett King; and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Moore Hanna; his parents, Andrew Hanna and Lucia Alice Price Hanna Burrage; and nine siblings.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Hanna, Rusty Hanna, Keith Goodin, Britt Goodin, Chris Wells, David Wells, and Joseph McCain. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Albert Moore, Steve Moore, and the members of the Harmony Baptist Church Men's Sunday School Class.
