HARLEY ADDISON CRANSTON

Harley Addison Cranston was born July 23, 1895 at Everly, to Foster and Laura Cranston. He attended school at Everly and completed high school at Spencer where he was outstanding in all sports and learned to enjoy all kinds of sports throughout his lifetime. Following high school he and his brother Walter started farming near Terril.

Mr. Cranston was united in marriage to Gladys Flint on Oct. 12, 1920 at Spencer. They started farming north of Everly and lived on the same place until moving to Spencer seven years ago. To this union were born two daughters, Cleone Cranston; Mrs. Ervin (Colene) Behrens and two sons, Raymond and Merlyn, all of this area.

Two years ago health problems made it necessary to enter the Longhouse residence where he made many new friends. He was unable to attend the 50th class reunion of his high school class but most enjoyed them calling on him and the visits at the Longhouse residence.

On April 20, 1966 Mr. Cranston passed away at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 70 years, 8 months and 27 days.

Survivors include his wife Gladys; four children; 8 grand children; one sister, Mrs. D.H. Sonuis of Spencer; three brothers, Rae and Ralph of Rochester and Harold of Minneapolis. Also other relatives and a host of friends.

Mr. Cranston was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 23, at the Warner Chapel, Spencer, with the Rev. Lyle Lieder officiating. Curtis Jass sang "Faith of Our Father" and "Beyond the Sunset." Organist was Mrs. Ernest Baish. Pallbearers were; Verland Meyer, Marion Flint, Robert Schoelerman, James Cranston, Lind Cranston, and John Cranston.

Interment in Lone Tree Cemetery, Everly, was under the direction of the Warner Funeral Home Inc. Spencer, Iowa.
