Ida May Bowser Harms 71, died May 27, 2005, after a three day hospitalization due to a probable stroke.

She was born May 19, 1934, in Holton, Kansas, on the Potawatomi Indian Reservation where she graduated from high school. Shortly after graduating, she moved to Buena Vista, Colorado, where she was employed with Loback's Bakery and ultimately met her husband, Rowland W. Harms.

Rowland and Ida managed the school bus's for Buena Vista for many years, and they both drove school bus route's. She was the secretary and support system for the family's transportation business activities.

They were charter members of First Lutheran Church in Salida and Faith Lutheran Church in Buena Vista, Colorado.

She volunteered her time serving with Gideons International. She recently began serving as the secretary/treasurer for the TOPS group in Buena Vista, and was the President at one time.

Christmas time was a favorite time of year for Ida. She made sure everyone received a gift. She usually began preparing for the next Christmas just after the holiday season ended.

Ida is well remembered for her fondness of planning and decorating for social gatherings, her gentle disposition, and having had a smile for everyone.

Ida is survived by two sons, Mark (Krystal) Harms, and Wendell Harms, both of Buena Vista. a sister, Velma Jean (Dean) Thomas of Marysville, Kansas: two grandchildren, Ethan and Kole Harms of Buena Vista: three sisters-in-laws, Alma Jean Bowser of Holton, Kansas, Kathleen (Kenneth) McKeenhan of Colorado Springs, and Rose Siens of Elgin, Texas; many cousins, one locally, Chet(Donna)Loback of Buena Vista, Colorado, and many nieces and nephews.

Ida was preceded in death by her husband, Rowland W. Harms; her daughter, Donna Harms-Elifritz: her parents, Ora and Rachel Bowser; and her brothers, Otis Bowser and Orrey Bowser.

The funeral service was held Tuesday, June 1, 2005, at Faith Lutheran Church with Pastor James Sturgis,Jr., officiating. Interment followed the service at Mount Olivet Cemetary.
