Consort Queen of Spain. Born Duchess of Parma of the Bourbon cadet branch and granddaughter of the King of France Louis XV, she was the wife of Charles IV (1765-1819) preceding him in the death by seventeen days. She was a woman with a strong temperament, enough to condition her husband in political choices and attitudes in the family environment. However, despite her commitment to trying to keep the King's influence stable, she was unable to prevent him from being dethroned by his son, the future Ferdinand VII. Maria Luisa of Parma spent the last years in exile in Rome with her husband (1808-1819).
