70 years of age at the time of his death. He was the son of William R. and Perlina Brookshire Ashworth, and husband of Birdie Sapp Ashworth. He came to Greensboro about 30 years prior, and at one time had practiced medicine in Kernersville and the surrounding country for about 14 years, using a horse and buggy to make his rounds in ministering to the sick. In rough weather and fair, he was ever ready to answer the call at noonday or at midnight. Later, Dr. Ashworth was President of The Glenwood Park Sanitorium, and Postmaster of the Glenwood Post Office in Greensboro. The sanitorium and the post office once stood on corners of Glenwood Ave. and Grove St. He was the husband of Birdie Sapp Ashworth, and the father of Lena, Myrtle, and Pearl Ashworth. (Note: On June 21, 1917, in Guilford Co. Pearl Ashworth married Andres Joyner; on Oct. 9, 1919, Myrtle Ashworth married Frank B. Morris in Guilford Co.) While in Greensboro, he had lived for 30 years at 116 S. Spring St.
