Peacefully passed into the presence of her Lord in Tofino General Hospital at 87 years of age. Joan will always be remembered for her love of landscaping and gardening, the ocean and her very creative pieces of shell artwork. She had a great love of nature and all of God's creation. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her family and all who knew her. Predeceased by her husband Robert and recently by her grandson Scott Butterfield. She is survived by her children: Jeannie Butterfield, Beverley Garcia, Robert and Donald; grandchildren: Craig, Donald, Kirk, Chris, Scott, Rob and Elise; great grandchildren: Reed, Damien, Rory, Brooke, Devon and Rheanna, as well as 3 sisters: Yvonne Morrison, Patience Murdoch, Joyce Mather, Vida Angus and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. A funeral service will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, December 3rd, 2011 at the Chapel of Memories Funeral Home, 4005-6th Avenue with Rev. Paul Wicki officiating. Interment to follow in Osoyoos Cemetery. Stories and condolences may be forwarded to the family by visiting www.chapelofmemories.ca. If desired donations in Joan's memory may be made to the Salvation Army, 4841 Redford St., Port Alberni, BC, V9Y 3P3. The family would like to thank all of the nurses and staff at Tofino General Hospital who lovingly cared for Joan during her illness and especially to Dr. O'Brien who worked tirelessly to keep her comfortable and pain free.
