James Earl "Buck" Adams, Jr., 69, retired businessman, real estate agent, insurance agent,and resident of Hayes Denton Road, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Life Care Center.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Jim Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials to Maury Hills Church of Christ Building Fund, 101 Unity Lane, Columbia, TN 38401 or Maury Regional Cancer Center, 1224 Trotwood Avenue, Columbia, TN 38401. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com.

The Maury County native was the son of the late James Earl Adams, Sr. and Mildred Tomlinson Adams. Buck was best known as "The Sewing Machine Doctor". After working eleven years for the Singer Company, he owned and operated Sewing Machine Land for thirty-five years. He was a real estate agent for several years and was field agent for Woodmen of the World Insurance in Tullahoma which he considered his second home.

An avid fisherman, his favorite spot was anywhere on Tim's Ford Lake. Mr. Adams was a member of Columbia Automotive Association and was instrumental in the organization of Big Oak Drag Strip where they promoted the goodness in teenage and young adult males. He was a member of Maury Hills Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Carole Anita Gibbs Adams of Columbia; daughters, Angelia (Dave) Reynolds and Stephanie (Bobby) Barron, both of Columbia; son, "Chuck" James E. Adams, III of Columbia; grandchildren, Shantel Adams, Ashley Adams, Robby Barron, Katie Reynolds, Jessica Reynolds, Emily Barron, "Chuck" James E. Adams, IV, Peyton Adams, Hudson Adams; great grandchildren, Lilly Fleeman and Levi Fleeman; sisters, Geraldine Franks of Savannah, Tennessee; Peggy (Bobby) Jacobs of Columbia; tbrothers-in-law, Forrest Gibbs and John (Jenni) Gibbs; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a great grandson, Landon Fleeman.

Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers include the Table of Knowledge at Bucky's Restaurant and Life Care Center staff.
