Age 20, was a victim of a tragic murder on December 17, 1998. Born July 14, 1978 in Lansing the daughter of Edwin and Evelyn Sandborn. Kassi was a 1997 graduate of Portland High School and Heartlands Institute of Ionia. She was a member of the VFW Post #4090 Ladies Auxiliary. She loved animals, country music, especially Garth Brooks and had a special love for her nieces and very special Uncle Bob. She also loved cooking, computers and swimming. Surviving are her parents, Edwin G. and Evelyn C. (Schneider) Sandborn of Sunfield; 1 brother, Kurt M. (Penny) Sandborn of Sunfield; 1 sister, Kendra S. (Kris) Spitzley of Sunfield; grandparents, Alvin and Dorothy Schneider of Lansing and Howard and Mary Sandborn of Sunfield; 2 nieces, Trissa Sandborn and Jordyn Spitzley. Funeral services were held Monday, December 21, 12:00 noon at the Gorsline-Runciman Co. Neller Chapel, 210 Bridge Street, Portland with the Rev. Charles D. Hall, Pastor of St. Patricks Catholic Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Danby Township Cemetery, Portland. Those desiring may make contributions to the Sparrow Foundation, Pediatric Greenhouse, 1215 E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing, 48912 in memory of Kassi.
