MADISON – Mrs. Edward J. Page, 62, of 429 West Johnson Street, wife of Madison' s fire chief, died Sunday at her home after a long illness. Her husband has been chief of the Madison Fire Department since 1944 and a member of the department since 1930. The former Clara Stumpf was born in Cross Plains and lived in Madison for 35 years. Before her marriage to Chief Page, she worked as a registered nurse in Madison hospitals. She was a member of St. Raphael's Catholic Cathedral and its Altar Society and the Catholic Woman's Club, and a charter member of the Queen of Apostles Guild. Other memberships included the State and International Firefighters Auxiliary, the Auxiliary of Firefighters Local 311, and Vocational Homemakers. Surviving are her husband; two sons, Robert, 1918 Madison Street; and Edward Jr., 429 West Johnson Street; four brothers, August M. and Alex G. Stumpf, both of Cross Plains; Cal H., 2630 East Johnson Street; and Joseph H., 2147 Oakridge Avenue; a sister, Mrs. Glenn Hornbeck, 1717 Winchester Street; and two grandchildren. The body is at the Ryan Funeral Home, 235 King Street, where friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday, and until time of services. The rosary will be recited there Tuesday night at 8. Funeral rites will be held Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. in the funeral home, and at 9 in St. Raphael's Cathedral. Monsignor Edward M. Kinney will officiate and burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Cross Plains.
