Goldie Laverne Monroe Holtzman was born to Hiram Lewis and Christena (Hendrickson) Monroe Jr on April 3, 1897. She was one of 10 children born to that union.

She married guy Earl Holtzman on December 26, 1923. They had 6 children of which there was a set of twin girls.

She died Saturday December 1, 1979 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. She was survived by one son, Wayne and 4 daughters Maxine, Eileen, Jeanne and Joanne, 4 sisters and one brother.

Preceding her in death were her parents, one son, Ronald, 3 brothers and one sister. Burial was in Grandview Cemetery at Fayette, Iowa.
