Funeral service for Mrs. Athel Gamble Chambers, 92, of Alexander City, will be Monday, August 5, 2013 at 10:00 am at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Rev. Nathan Green and Rev. Ken Griffith will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 4, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.

Mrs. Chambers passed away on Friday, August 2, 2013 at Russell Medical Center. She was born on July 14, 1921 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama to Less Oliver and Ruby Meadows Oliver.

She enjoyed sewing, flowers, working in her yard and traveling. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Gill (Randy) and Norma Colley (Earnest), both of Alexander City and Arlene Hill of Childersburg; sons, Harold Gamble (Betty) of Dadeville, Eugene Gamble (Susan) of Alexander City and Gary Gamble (Diane) of Sylacauga; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Edward O'Neal Gamble and James Chambers; her parents; sister, Vertis Browning; brother, Elton Oliver; grandchildren, Tammy Jean Colley and Douglas Scott Hill; and son-in-law, George Hill.
