Ancestry.com shows, in several places, death year 1831 so will use that year for now.

Capt. Peter Hog's (Hogg) Augusta County, VA will, written 5 Oct 1773, names wife Elizabeth, his "two sons" James and Peter, and his "two daughters" Anna and Elizabeth. Peter Hog wrote a Codicil to his will on 10 Nov 1777, in which he states it "has pleased God to add to his family" another son, Thomas; thus, Thomas was born between those two dates.
