Irene Ruth Cawley, 97, of Crete, passed away Saturday (11-27-10) in Crete. She was born in Wilber, Nebraska on November 20, 1913 to Charles & Bessie (Borecky) Stastny. Irene graduated from Crete High School in 1931, and married David H. Cawley on June 26, 1936. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Crete VFW Auxiliary #4959. Irene worked at Crete Manor for over 13 years. She enjoyed playing bridge, knitting, Czech music, and Husker football. She was known for her kolaces, and loved being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
