Sister of Pearl Evelyn Chewning (Mrs. James Lewis Smith), Frederick Bruce Chewning (Wife, Bessie May Hughes), and Jesse I. Chewning (who died in 1912 at the age of 26).
In 1896, when Minnie was 17, she married Emmett Taylor Simpson; she and her sister Pearl married cousins, as Emmett is the cousin of James Smith.
Minnie and Emmett had six children together: Charles Hobson Simpson (Wife, Nannie Sue Rice Simpson), Maude Louise Simpson (Mrs. Tyree Glenn Newton), George Rawley Simpson (who, sadly, died at only 7 weeks of age), Evelyn Virginia Simpson (who, sadly, died at only 5 months of age from Croup and Colitis), Lawrence Watson Simpson (Wife, Evelyn Richeson Simpson), and Jessie Ruelmo Simpson (Mrs. Henry Holcomb Harley Grubbs).
Grandmother of 11; Great-Grandmother, Aunt, Cousin, Niece and Friend to many.
Minnie was a member of the Court Street Methodist Church in Lynchburg.
Her Husband, Emmett, died in 1955; Minnie is buried beside him and beside her son, Charles Hobson Simpson, in the Simpson Family Plot at the Presbyterian Cemetery.
