She was a native and lifelong resident of Poquoson, and was the oldest member of First Calvary Baptist Church in Hampton. She was active in her church until she was physically unable to attend. She drove the school bus for Poquoson City Public Schools from 1964 to 1989 and was known and loved by many children in Poquoson as "Miss Bee". She was a loving and caring person to all who knew her, and always put other's needs before her own. She was a born again Christian and is now enjoying the splendors of Heaven with her Lord and her loved ones who went before her.
Mrs. Shriver was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Edwin L. Shriver in 1987; her parents, Allen S. and Maude L. Evans; a sister, Beulah P. Hubbard; and a brother, Allen S. Evans Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter and best friend, Kathryn Shriver "Kathy" Boyd and husband, Mark of Poquoson; her son, Edwin A. "Allie" Shriver and wife, Bonnie of Poquoson; her grandsons, Jason Shriver Boyd and wife, Amy of Poquoson, Robert Jeremiah Shriver of Richmond; her brother, William Vernard Evans of Poquoson; a sister-in-law, Frances Evans Saunders of Poquoson. She shared her room at Bayside Convalescent Center in Poquoson with her sister-in-law, Frances, and brother, Buddy, was on the same hall at Bayside. She also had many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
The family will receive friends Friday, July 23, 2010, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson, immediately followed by a Funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. by Pastor Mark D. Boyd. Burial will follow at Eastern Cemetery, Poquoson. At other times the family will be at the daughter's home in Poquoson.
The family wishes to express many thanks to all of the staff at Bayside Convalescent Center. They were an extended family to her, always brightened her day, and saw to her every need and health concern.
