Ocala - Gib F. Beane, 84, died on April 4, 2012 at MRMC. He was born March 12, 1928 in Pensacola, FL. He served in the U.S. Army at the end of World War II as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne. Gib also had a brief stint with the Merchant Marine. Returning to civilian life, he had a long and successful career in sales. He later founded Forest Awards and Engraving in Wood Dale, IL. His business still thrives managed largely by his daughter, Judy. Gib was an accomplished golfer. In 1995, he took up residency in Ocala and continued to visit his family members in Chicago. He spent the majority of his time here at his residence in Silver Springs Shores. He was a loving family man and generous philanthropist. He had a talent for engendering friendships, and could approach people and initiate pleasant conversations hence he had many friends. He once said that there are no strangers here, just friends we've never met. Gib was the widowed husband of Barbara [nee: Franks], father of Stanley [in Tampa], Shawn [Kathy], Judith, Steve [Rohn], and Jon [Mary] of Naples, FL. He was the proud grandfather of 10. Interment services were held on April 14th at Geil's Funeral home, Wood Dale, IL at a private ceremony. He'd requested that he'd be buried near most of his family.
