Doreen Mae Myers, 86, died at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2012 in Timbercrest Healthcare Center.

She was born January 25, 1926 in York, to Lehman W. and Alverta Mae (Bupp) Crist.

She graduated from North York (PA) High School and attended Manchester College and earned her BA degree in English from Elizabethtown College.

On June 7, 1947 she married Rev. Carl E. Myers.

She was a homemaker and active in Camp Fire, Inc. and was hospitality chairperson for Highland Ave. Church of the Brethren for many years. She enjoyed words, word games and rewriting lyrics to songs to fit special events. Doreen was a member of Manchester Church of the Brethren, North Manchester, Ind., and a former member of the Highland Ave. Church of the Brethren, Elgin, Ill.

She is survived by her husband, Rev. Carl E. Myers, North Manchester, Ind.; one son, Stephen Merryweather, Nevada City, Calif.; three daughters, Judith A. Myers-Walls, Lafayette, Ind., Linda M. Swanson, Elgin, Ill., and Karen Myers-Bowman, Manhattan, Kan.; one brother, Jay K. Crist, York; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Dale E. Crist of York.
