She was born at rural Viola on March 29, 1924 to Mack and Mattle ((Hankins) Hill. On November 15, 1942 she was united in marriage to Keith DeLap. They have lived at rural Viola for many years. Mary served as clerk for Liberty Township and worked for the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Viroqua Leaf Tobacco Co. and NCR in Viroqua.
She is survived by her husband, Keith and one daughter, Judith DeLap Long, both of rural Viola; five grandchildren, Bruce (Kitty) DeLap of Boaz, Brenda Hart of Wausau, Barry (Mary) DeLap of Richland Center, Barbara (Brady) Doudna of Richland Center and Todd (Sara) Long of Milton; 13 great-grandchildren and other relatives.
Her parents; one son, Jim DeLap; one sister, Vesta Turner; and three brothers, Roy, Bill and Jack Hill preceded her in death.
The funeral service for Mary was held Thursday, January 29, 2004 in the Viola United Methodist Church. The Rev. Doris Clark officiated with burial in the Viola Cemetery. Visitation was held at the church on Thursday before the time of the services. Larson Funeral Home of Viroqua assisted the family with arrangements.
