Alpheus C. Bowen, president of the Bowen Machinery company of 421-23 Chestnut street, died yesterday at his home after an illness which had its inception last January.
Deceased was born on Well's Island, St. Lawrence river, N.Y., on March 8, 1847, and came to Rockford from State Center, Ia., early in 1920 to establish his business here. He was the last in his family.
Besides the widow, Mrs. Abbie Shryver, whom he married on July 8, 1875, he is survived by three children, Frank W. Bowen and Clifford B. Bowen of Rockford, and Mrs. Florence Bowen Duedon, of Des Moines, Ia. There is one grandchild, Betty Gale Bowen of Rockford.
