Sergeant Kenneth "Kenny" Hornak, DSN 1997, entered the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Departments Academy on 12/02/1979. When he graduated on 02/11/1980 he was commissioned as a Police Officer. He was then sent to the 9Th District for his 1St duty assignment. He remained in that position until he was transferred into the 9Th District Detective Bureau in January of 1990. In May of 1992 he was transferred to the Homicide Section and stayed there until he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant on 07/15/1998. After his promotion he was sent to the 5Th District as a precinct supervisor. On 09/10/2001 he was transferred to the Canine Section as the Commander of that unit and stayed there until he retired on 05/31/2010. During his career he was awarded 3 letters of Commendation and 2 Meritorious Service Citations for police work above the call of duty.

Ken was a St. Louis Metroploitan Police Officer for 30 years, serving 9 years as a Commander of the K-9 Unit.
After retirement he accepted a position as Assistant Director of Public Safety for St. Louis University.

Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
