Gary Duggan

Gary Duggan, age 61, of 478 S. Brye Road, Ludington, passed away Sunday, April 7 at his home following a year long battle with cancer.
Gary was born Oct. 6, 1940 in Elgin, Ill. He was the son of William Michael Duggan and Pearl and Henry Skow of Scottville. He was a lifelong resident of Mason County. He graduated from Mason County Central High School. He married Rosemary Shoup in 1962.
Gary loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and gardening.
He was employed by Great Lakes Castings for 27 years before retiring in January 2001. His family and friends will mpst remember Gary for his generosity and big heart. He was loved by many and will be missed.
His wife of 40 years, Rosemary, survives him along with his four children, Duane Duggan of Ludington, Randy (Kelly) Duggan of Custer, Darcy (Mark) Rogers of Ludington, and Rebecca (Steve) Van Beckum of Green Bay, Wis., and 10 grandchildren, Cassandra Duggan, Kristen and Ashleigh Duggan, Scott, Ryan and Brena Rogers, and Justin, Kyle, Logan and Megan Van Beckum. He is also survived by his mother and stepfather, Pearl and Henry Skow; one brother, Ron (Donna) Duggan; one sister, Joyce (Pete) Carlson; a stepbrother, Rodney (Rosemary) Skow; a stepsister, Betty (Bill) Carnes, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
His father, William Michael Duggan, preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard and Laura Saxton, and one niece.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 10 at 1 p.m. at Alexander-Rye Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Houk officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Custer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of Mason County, or the donor's choice.
