For many years, I was puzzled over the maiden name of Sue Belle Gaines, wife of Wilkie C. Gaines. What appears to be their marriage license from Oklahoma gives her last name as Brown, but I found that to be a dead end. Years ago, I hired a genealogist to track down the elusive Gaines family with the info I had about Wilkie and his brother Edward living in Okmulgee/Henryetta/Muskogee areas. I have had the obit for Sue Gaines for a long time and sporadically did try to figure out the relatiionships between the nephews and nieces listed as surviving her. I finally was able to make the necessary breakthrough by tracing the family of Lottie Skidmore and Ott Talkington, both listed as relatives. Long story made short -I believe her maiden name is Ross.
