Floyd Richter, the 18 year old adopted son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Richter of 821 Lincoln Stree, South Side, died last evening.
Richter was a sailor on the United States battleshiop New Jersey, and enlisted on March 16, 1912, at Phillipsburg. He was on a school ship for a short time and was assigned to the New Jersey on July 23. the ship is now in dry dock at Boston. He came home on Monday of this week and was to have left for Boston on Sunday. In January the ship will go to Cuba.
Prior to his enlistment he was employed as a mechanical draftsman at the West Easton plant of the Ingersoll-Rand works, and was regarded as a good workman. He had a desire to enter the navy, however finally induced his foster parents to allow him to enlist. After he had been in the service for a short time he found it was not what he thought it to be, and was very anxious to get out.
Richter was a member of the South Presbyterian Church and Sunday School on the South Side.
