Mr. Bare was born January 8, 1893 in Lagrange Township, Bond County, the son of George and Emma (Grigg) Bare. He married Edythe L. Bryson on October 27, 1920 in Greenville. Mr. Bare worked as a farmhand from 1935 to 1952. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I from 1914 to 1918. Mr. Bare was a member of First Christian Church, Greenville Lodge No. 245 A.F. & A.M. and American Legion Post #282.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Paul Eldon Sr. (June) Poor and Mrs. Martin Francis Jr. (Maryellen) Harrison, both of Taylorville; one half-sister, Mrs. Susan Davis of Girard, Kansas; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, David Bare and Benjamin Bare; two half-brothers, Solomon Bare and Henry Bare; two sisters, Celeste Bare and Laura Bare; and one half-sister, Sarah Bare.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 7, 1967, at First Christian Church, with burial following in Mount Auburn Cemetery. Donnell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
