Velma Fraker, age 83, of Mitchellville, left this world Saturday, April 14, 2012 at her home surrounded by family.

The daughter of Howard and Mary (Dolinsek) Wilson, Velma was born July 20, 1928 in Colfax, Iowa. Velma grew up on a farm near Colfax, attended Blanford one-room school and then Colfax School where she graduated from high school in 1947.

Velma married Max LaVere Allsup in 1948 and this union was blessed with two children, Crystal Sue and Howard Max. Her husband Max died in a car accident in 1955.

In 1956 Velma married Stanley Lee Fraker where they lived on the family farm near Mitchellville. They were blessed with a second son David Lee. Together, this family of five loved, lived, played and became a strong bond.

Velma loved to bake cookies and pies, and the candy, oh my, fudge, panocha, divinity and caramels. Then there are the popcorn balls for family and friends and many customers. Velma was always ready for a good card game and played with anyone who dared to challenge her. She even played cards with her family on this Easter Sunday.
