Bernard J. Siebert, 75, of Topeka, died December 22, 2011 at Manor Care Nursing Home.

He was born in Topeka, Kansas on February 19, 1936 the son of Leo Bernard and Berniece C. (Hanson) Siebert. He graduated from Silver Lake High School. Bernard served as a Civilian Employee for the National Guard for 32 years. He enjoyed woodworking and music and played the trumpet in High School.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #534 and James W. Gibbons Assembly of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus.

Bernard is survived by his siblings, Lawrence Vernon Siebert of Irving, TX, Anita Reed of Justin, TX, Richard Lee Siebert of Garland, TX, Anthony Paul Siebert of Manhattan, KS, and Sally Jo Gembala of South Padre Island, TX, and a special cousin Stephen Siebert of Topeka.

Bernard will lie in state on Monday after 2:00 p.m. at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. and a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Chalice Ceremony will be at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 12:00 noon at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Cremation will follow with inurnment at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Topeka Rescue Mission or the Salvation Army and sent in care of Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66603. Online condolences to www.brennanmathenafh.com.
