Mr. Elmer A. Newark, 63, veteran agent for the Columbus Mutual Life Insurance company here, died unexpectedly following a heart attack suffered at noon Thursday at his house, 1304 East Michigan avenue. The fire department inhalator squad was summoned to the residence following the attack but the inhalator was not used. The body was removed to the Gorsline-Runciman funeral home. Plans for funeral services will be announced later.

Rites Saturday
Funeral services for Elmer A. Newark, 63, well known Lansing insurance man who died unexpectedly of a heart ailment Thursday noon at his home, 1304 East Michigan avenue, will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Gorsline-Runciman funeral home.
The services will be under auspices of Capitol Lodge No. 66, F.&A.M. and members of the order will meet Saturday afternoon at 1:45 o'clock at the Masonic temple to attend the services in a body. Interment will be in Maple Hill cemetery, Charlotte.
Born at Roxan [sic], Mich., February 24, 1882, Mr. Newark had lived here for the past 25 years, being engaged in the insurance business as an agent of the Columbus Mutual Life Insurance company.
He was prominent in local and state insurance organizations, having been a member of the National Association of Life Underwriters, the Lansing Life Managers and General Agents association. And the Michigan State Columbus Mutual Life Insurance club, of which he was a past president.
Mr. Newark was affiliated with Lansing Commandery No. 25, Knights Templar, Lansing Council No. 29, R.&S.M., Capital Chapter No. 9, R.A.M., and Capitol Lodge No. 66.
He is survived by the widow, Mabel; a son, Dr. Fenn Newark and Mrs. Norma Butterfield, and four grandchildren, all of Lansing; two brothers, Grayson Newark, Jackson, and Erva F. Newark, Minneapolis.

He married Mabel Antha Fenn 15 Nov 1901 in Battle Creek, Calhoun, Michigan.
