Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the William G. Tanner Mortuary, Highland and Winter Avenues for Mrs. Ella E. Bowden, 78, of Alexandria, Va., formerly of Shenango Township, who died yesterday in Arlington Hospital in Arlington, Va. after an extended illness. Mrs. Bowden had been residing with her granddaughter Mrs. Sandra Hall of Alexandria, Va.

She was born Feb. 21, 1895 in Hartstown, Pa. and came to the Shenango Township area when she married Henry C. Pitsch who preceded her in death. She subsequently married Ralph A. Bowden who also preceded her in death.

She is survived by a son, Charles H. Pitsch of Wexford, Pa.; two sisters, Mrs Alma Glaven of Bessemer and Mrs. Ethel Slater of Florida; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Virginia Stelter and Mrs. Mary Fultz both of New Castle; a stepson, William Bowden of New Castle; eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sons, Frank A. Pitsch, Marvin L. Pitsch and Robert L. Pitsch and two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Duman and Mrs. Katherine Smith.

Friends will be received at the Arlington Funeral Home in Virginia this evening and the body will be returned to the mortuary in New Castle where friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. Burial will follow the service Saturday in Graceland Cemetery.
