The passenger train of the Boston and Maine railroad came in collision with a
cow, near this city this morning. The engine was thrown down an embankment and
cars thrown from the truck. E. Abbot, of Andover, and Charles Richardson, of
Gravelly Hill express, were instantly killed; Reuben Gleason, of the Reading
express, was badly injured. George Richards, fireman, had both legs mashed, and
is now dying. Two brakemen each lost a leg. No passengers injured.
