He was born Sept. 2, 1917, in Merrill, the son of the late Albert W and Wilhelmine (Beilke) Fechtner. He married Marion Laatsch on June 7, 1947, in the town of Maine. She preceded him in death on June 18, 1985.
Norman worked for the United States Post Office. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of DAV. He loved gardening and carpentry work.
Survivors include one daughter, Debra (Jay) Lattimer, Delray Beach, Fla.; and one sister, Irene (Howard) Petersen, Merrill. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and one daughter.
Funeral services will be at 3 pm Friday, Nov 1, 1996, at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. Rev. Dennis Pegorsch will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, town of Maine. Visitation will be from 1 pm Friday until the time of services at the funeral home.
