James Cantwell


James (Stratt) Cantwell, 1009 North Main, was stricken with a heart attack while driving in from his farm west of Hutchinson about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday. An ambulance was called to bring him to St. Elizabeth's hospital, but his death occurred before he reached there.

Mr. Cantwell had assisted with loading stock at his farm to be trucked into market and accompanied by Mrs. Cantwell was driving his car behind the stock truck when he was stricken. He was able to drive up to the nearby farm home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Frederick, five miles west of Hutchinson, before succumbing.

Born near Valparaiso, Indiana, July 21, 1875, Mr. Cantwell came with his parents to Medford township when he was eight years old and lived there until the time of his marriage to Mrs. Minnie L. Herb of Hutchinson 22 years ago. He moved to Hutchinson at that time, but continued to farm his land west of town. He was a member of First Christian church.

Survivors are his widow; five sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Dimmitt, Mrs. Bessie Walker, Mrs. Della Springer, Mrs. Pearl Miller, and Mrs. Blanch Colvin; and three brothers, Ralph S., Trent R., and Luther B.
