J. Graham, Surgeon, P. A. C. S. " [Docketing on the back of this letter reads, "Hd Qtrs. Trans Miss, Medical Director's Office, Shreveport, July 7, 1863, When a Surgeon or Asst. Surgeon declines to appear before an Army Med Board for examination, I am of the opinion that he ceases to be a Med Officer of the Army from the date of his declination. John M. Haden, Med Director"
