Doris Evangeline (Smith) Bohlander of Fairmount Homes in Ephrata, PA and formerly of Brethren Village in Lancaster, PA went home to be with her Lord on April 23, 2012 at the age of 91. She was the widow of George P. Bohlander. They had been married 60 years at the time of his death in 2006.
Born February 14, 1921 in St. Regis Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late George Dennison and Rhoda Anne (Rollins) Smith. After attending local schools in St. Regis Falls, NY, Doris completed nursing school in Watertown, NY. While employed as a Registered Nurse by Potsdam General Hospital in Potsdam, NY, she met George, a Clarkson College engineering student working at the hospital. After their marriage on August 17, 1946, Doris and George moved to Pearl River and later Nanuet, NY where they settled and raised their family.
Doris' life was devoted to her family and faith. She was an active member of Grace Conservative Baptist Church in Nanuet, NY for over 45 years. Doris will be missed by all who knew her.
Doris is survived by her children: a daughter, Meribeth B. and her husband, Richard H. Baldwin of Westfield, MA; and son, David G. and his wife, Roslyn T. Bohlander of Wyalusing, PA; six grandchildren: Jennifer M. and her husband Albert Ernst Thielen, IV of Westfield, MA; Laura B. Baldwin of Wappingers Falls, NY; Emily J. Baldwin and her fiancé Donald F. V. Fisher of Westfield, MA; Joseph H. Baldwin and his friend Angela C. Paolantonio of Mattapoisett, MA; Augusta J. and her husband Mark S. Kniesly of Lancaster, PA; Alexandra L. Bohlander of Mount Joy, PA; six great grand children: Hadleigh B. and Cooper S. Leclair of Westfield, MA; Grace E. Fisher of Westfield, MA; William D., Samuel J., and Benjamin A. Kniesly of Lancaster, PA. She was predeceased by her sisters Beulah M. Aiken of Theresa, NY and Gladys C. Aiken of Lake Placid, NY.
A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel at Brethren Village, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA on Friday, April 27, 2012, at 1:30 P.M, with Pastor Mark Tedford presiding. Interment to follow in Silver Spring Cemetery, West Hempfield, Twp., Lancaster Co., PA. Friends may visit with the family in the Chapel at Brethren Village on Friday from 12:30-1:30 P.M.
