OBITUARY EDWIN LLOYD SMITH

Edwin Lloyd Smith age 77, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on Feb. 4, 2001 after a massive stroke in 1999.

Lloyd was born Sept. 25, 1923 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Edwin and Ethel Ackert Neff Smith. He married Valmai Long in the Salt Lake Temple. She passed away on Dec. 31, 1971. He later married Melba Kaye Steck on May 17, 1973 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Lloyd was in the Air Force stationed at Guam. He worked at Hill Field as a mechanic in tool and dye for 35 years. He was active in the LDS Church and served a mission in the Northwest. He was also a scout leader. He loved working in his shop, and could fix and build anything. He built his own home. He grew a large garden and fruit trees and shared the produce with neighbors and friends. He had a cute sense of humor and was liked by all.

He is survived by his wife Kaye Smith, 6 children; Debbie (Tony) Christensen, David (Emily) Steck, Richard (Maria), Linda (Ron) Kirby, Don (Linda) Steck, Diane Steck, 17 grandchildren, sister; Mary Grace Allen Wade, brothers; Raymond (Jean), John (Faye), Robert (Carol), Albert (Norine), David (Alene), and brother-in-law; Ken (Rosann) Long. Preceded in death by a sister; Vivian Stoddart, brother; Stanley Smith, and sister-in-law; Faye Smith.

Funeral services Fri. 12 noon, Feb. 9, 2001 at the Winder 9th Ward, 4366 S. 1500 E. Friends may call Thur. 6:00-8:00 pm at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State St. and Fri. 1 hr. prior to services at the church. Interment Larkin Sunset Gardens.

He will be missed dearly. "Good bye Dad"
